Supplementary election

Due to the resignation of a member of the Council, a supplementary election is necessary to fill the vacancy for Area Councillor.

Nominating

Becoming a member of council is a great way to represent and help make a difference to your local community.

The nomination period for the vacancy of Area Councillor will open on Thursday 22 July 2021 and will close at 12 noon on Thursday 5 August 2021.

Candidate briefing videos

Due to the Level 5 COVID-19 restrictions announced by the State Government on 20 July 2021, the face to face candidate briefing session scheduled for 5pm on Tuesday 20 July 2021 at the Council Office had to be cancelled.

The Council has recorded its briefing and it is available on the Council’s YouTube page (external link). This video covers the role of a councillor, expectations of skills and knowledge, and how the Council works.

A general pre-recorded video produced by the Electoral Commission is available on our YouTube page (external link). This video is designed to help guide candidates through the nomination process and understand their legal obligations.

How to nominate

UPDATE 20 July 2021 

Due to the Level 5 COVID-19 restrictions announced by the South Australian State Government, candidates are no longer able to submit their nomination in person. 

Please note that the only way to submit a nomination is via email. 

If you have sent your nomination in the post, please contact ECSA as soon as possible on 1300 655 232. 

To lodge your nomination via email, you need to fill in the relevant nomination form, sign it, scan it and send it to ecsa.elections@sa.gov.au along with your candidate profile statement. If you choose to submit a photo you must write a statement on the back of the photo with the wording ‘This is a photograph of <your name> taken within the past 12 months’, and also sign the back of the photo.

Please note that late nominations cannot be accepted. It is strongly recommended that your lodge your nomination early to allow time to rectify any potential problems.
