The Electoral Commission of South Australia (ECSA) has announced important dates for candidate nominations and declaration for the upcoming State Election.

Nominations Open

Nominations for both party-endorsed and independent candidates will open on Monday 23 February 2026.

Nominations Close

Party endorsed nominations must be lodged with ECSA by 5pm on Friday 27 February 2026.

Unendorsed or independent nominations must be lodged with Returning Officers by 12 noon on Monday 2 March 2026.

Declaration of Candidates and Ballot Draws

ECSA will conduct the declaration of candidates and ballot draws for each district on Monday 2 March 2026.

  • Returning Officers will conduct the declaration of candidates and ballot draws for the House of Assembly in each electoral office, at 3pm.

The Returning Officer for the Legislative Council will declare the candidates  at 5pm at The Electoral Commission SA’s offices, Level 3, 60 Light Square, Adelaide.
