Over 1.1 Million Voting Packs Mailed

Voting packs for South Australia’s local government elections will be mailed out to all eligible voters from today.

South Australian Electoral Commissioner, Ms Kay Mousley, said a total of 1,121,931 ballot packs would be sent this week, making it one of the largest mail-outs the Commission has undertaken.

"Because of the large volume, the mail out will be staggered through the week," she said.

"Anyone who has not received their voting pack by next Monday, 27 October, should call the Commission on 1300 655 232."

A total of 1334 candidates have nominated for this year’s local government elections.

Of the 234 possible elections, 189 will be contested.

Voting is conducted by post and will close on Friday, 7 November.

"We would urge everyone to fill out and return their ballot papers as soon as they receive them to ensure they have their say on how their councils are run," Ms Mousley said.
