History

This district was created at the 1983 redistribution and first represented 1985.

Name origin: Alexander Maurice Ramsay (1914-1978) was General Manager of the South Australian Housing Trust for 25 years, prominent in community affairs and devoted his talents to the improvement of South Australian life.

Size: Approximately 24.7 km²

Location: To the north of the Adelaide area, largely residential with some light industry, and includes the Parafield Airport and the City of Salisbury.

Key boundary changes compared to 2010: Ramsay gains part of the suburb of Parafield Gardens.
