History

Formerly the district of Norwood, re-named in the 2012 redistribution.

Name origin: Donald (Don) Dunstan AC QC (1926-1999) was the Member for Norwood from 1953 until 1979 and Premier of South Australia between June 1967 and April 1968 and then from June 1970 to February 1979. He implemented substantial social reforms including introducing anti-discrimination legislation, pioneering Aboriginal Land Rights, decriminalising homosexuality, enacting consumer protection laws and electoral reforms including lowering the voting age to eighteen years.

Size: Approximately 14.6 km²

Location: Located east of the Adelaide city parklands, the district contains some of the older suburbs of Adelaide as well as numerous small business enterprises.

Key boundary changes compared to 2010: Boundaries are the same as the district of Norwood at the 2010 election.
