Supplementary elections

Supplementary elections may occur when a position becomes vacant within a Council. A vacancy can occur due to death, illness, resignation, or any other circumstances outlined in section 54(1) of the Local Government Act 1999 External link.

Due to the resignation of a member of the Council, a supplementary election is necessary to fill the vacancy of Councillor for Balmoral Ward. The timetable for this election is available below. For more information, visit the Council's website:

The voters roll for this supplementary election closes at 5pm on Friday 31 March 2017.

You are entitled to vote in the election if you are on the State electoral roll. If you have recently turned 18 or changed your residential or postal address you must complete an electoral enrolment form that is available from the Electoral Commission SA or a post office.

Nominations to fill the vacancy open on 27 April 2017 and close at 12 noon on Thursday 11 May 2017.

The election is conducted entirely by post with ballot materials to reach the Returning Officer by 12 noon on Tuesday 13 June 2017.
